Bull condition

Bulls first year breeding started on 15 Heifers / Cows hee is loosing condition feeding with the rest of the herd not pening him up and feeding him grain or anything special they have little to graze out in pasture and feeding oat hay also has option of supplements red block and sweetlyks plenty of water what else should I do?

If I am reading this right.. sounds like the big fella needs some protein. Either cubes, pellets.. or whatever else that has some good protein value to it. If he needs it.. your momma cows need it too. Fifteen cows is not too much for one bull to handle. How old is he?

Those first time bulls do tend to do a lot of chasing. As long as he's getting all he wants to eat, Oat hay, grass, and supplements he should be ok. If the cattle aren't gatting all they want I would feed more.

Cattle need an average of 12-14% protein from all sources.

Sounds like you need to feed some high quality hay plus good molasses/mineral tub supplement. Oat hay w/ or w/o heads does not have that much protein value. The "red blocks" are generally only small amount of trace minerals and mostly salt. I'd probably go with supplementing (besides some good protein hay) a few 20% range cubes and/or a 20-30% molasses mineral tub.

also im currently feeding mineral tub with molasses thats the sweetlyks stuff

We don't use trace mineral block's(red block's) this time of year we give loose hi-mag mineral's.It dose sound like he need's more protein.
