Bug ID?

This is a "stink bug" where I live.

We are spraying everywhere. Hope to be rid of whatever these things are now.

Well. South across the road was some junky junky canola. They cut it several weeks ago

Don't look anything like the squash bugs I've seen

Seems to have really made a dent in it. The suckers were even infiltrating the house!

If you have a pest control company in your area, they can tell you exactly what it is and the best way to get rid of them.

I don't have it on my phone but I think there is a bug ID app that you can take a picture and it will identify it. The plant app i use works great.

Neighbor had an exterminator coming out today for his.
Maybe we will know something this afternoon.
The tempo made a HUGE difference here!
At least around the house is pretty clean now.

Someone said springtails or snow fleas

We used to call both of these types of bugs "stink bugs". The true bugs picturd are more like what I have seen congregating on old elm trees feed off the leaking sap.

The big black insect is a stink beetle. The gray-brown shield thing is a stink bug. Hope that clears things up.

Both are just colloquialisms... Just regional nicknames commonly used depending on where you live. Neither are actual, formal names.

That's not what I call a stink bug. Lol

Looks like a squash bug to me. The stink bugs we have are a bit longer and darker almost black.

Look up lygus bug family on the internet. Lots of photos. How did I find the bug I searched for Canola insect pest.

Lygus Hahn. Sounds Mongolian.. and evidently, they do come in hordes.

I downloaded both and skipped the subscription on both. It loaded just fine anyway. I guess I'll see what happens...

Evidently there's a canola specific bug?


Idk. But he's down there spraying now too
