Bubba wants to drive. Bubba's the only Frame 4.5 Charolais I ever raised. I bred him to my larger framed cows this past winter and his plumbing got tore up. His calves will be hitting the ground this fall and I am excited.

Nice looking bull. Shame about his plumbing. Hope you get a son out of him that can replace him.

They can fix broke bulls sometimes. Give them bute and keep IT from getting dry. Spray IT with cold water and put lubricant on IT. I took a bull to Fort Collins once to get fixed. $1,100.00 latter they called and said it wasn't going to work. They did say they normally save 80% of the bulls in this condition. I should have got my bull to them faster, I think he got to dry.

I've had several that fell into the 20% (unsaveable) category.

No. He went to the big hamburger plant in the sky.

I have never had luck with those things. :(

It was swollen about as big as a football and dragging the ground when I found him.

Vet clinic said about a 50/50 chance for $1100-1200.

I'll have some sons this fall tho'.

Owwwwwwww! Poor Bubba...probably did him a favor. Sure did your pocket book a favor...however, it would have been a hard call for a bleeding heart like me.

Good looking bull. Hate to hear that he went down like that on you. Those things happen. Take care and hope you get a thick bull calf out of him that does as good of a job as Bubba did. :cboy:
 
Too bad you didn't throw in just a few smaller cows, too.

Most to correct, but a few to replicate himself in.

Mike, I hope I can produce one that good from my Chars next year. Good looking bull.

Also no hay cut yet, we have had rain almost every day.

He was 22 months old in the picture and weighed 2050 a few weeks later. Do you think he was lacking in his front shoulders?
 
Mike I don't think he's any over powerful in the shoulders and is fairly tight chested but I do like him for a charolais though he looks like something that would be a nice bull too bad he was lost. did you ever collect him?

No I never collected him. I had planned to this past spring after breeding season.

I really appreciate the comments on Bubba. He was a special bull, in that he had all the EPD's anyone would want and great carcass data with a 40 cm scrotum as a yearling.

Plus he was a big ole' baby. He would follow me around and never got aggressive. His only bad side was he was always picking a fight with the other bulls.
