I read somewhere that Broken Bow was the #1 for seller for ABS.
Just wondering if that is due to price or from his first calves or commercial breeders?
I like Complete but I don't think he was a rock star of a bull.
Don't know much about Broken Bow but am interested.
Thanks for your feedback.

I think broken bow is kind of a no worries heifer specialist. I'd want a sire that offers a little more performance out of cows.

There was a $190,000 son that sold at Rancho Casino in California that seems to given him a second wind of popularity

My ABS salesman said the midwest guys/old guard cattle guys he knows just love Broken Bow. Makes great calves. I'll pass that along for what it is worth.

I noticed ABS raised his price. I assume it is demand related. The sons in this area sold really well this past sale season.

We used him extensively this year. The top selling bull in the Sydenstricker sale was a BB son. We have seen some really impressive results.

I still believe it just depends on your cows. We have AI'd the same bull and had different outcomes within the herd. It all just depends on, as our 78 year old cowboy would say, "will they jick well together." He may have made that term up!

Anyone have any updates on this bull's progeny? I noticed he is in the ABS Beef Special that is going on right now. Looks pretty solid on epd's. How have the calves grown and phenotype?

We liked his calves and retained heifers out of him. We are pulling tissue now to do parentage but we liked him enough to keep using him as an AI sire.

Did they compare pretty evenly with Hickok calves? Thank you for your feedback.

Casino Bomber is really popular. We saw him at Stud. He is a pretty large framed bull. He looked pretty nice for producing CE growth cattle. His rear hip and butt were lacking but overall looked good. I like his Brother Spring Cove Reno better but Semen is really expensive if you can find it.

I've got a daughter and she doesn't look like much, but she's got a nice big discovery bull on her that'll probably keep and use on 1st and 2nd heifers.

Reading back though some old post. Now that they are older what are your thoughts on the BB vs Hickok heifers?

I think my guys like our Hickok more but they are not complaining on the BB. I don't think they believe his daughters are quite as complete but they still like them. We have retained heifers out of both.

I suspect the Broken Bow daughters will have better feet than your Hickok daughters. I am disappointed in how much Broken Bow's HP has gone down.

Anyone have recommendations to breed Hickok daughters? I have some special focus in the tank that I'm really thinking about plugging in them.

I am calving Broken Bow daughters now. Disposition good, udders decent, feet look good. Not the prettiest girls in the bunch but if they do their job they are good enough.
