i sent 2 beefmaster cows to the sale today.they was real late calving so i figured they was open.but they ended up being 3 and 5 months bred.so i wonder with them being short bred if they will sell better than packer cows.nephew sent his last 2 non reg cows as well and they was 3 and 5 months bred.had a pair to send but her calf was smart and didnt come into the pen.so they will be sold later.

well i got the sale results 2 cows aved $1500ea before deducts.the 1st 2 are beefmasters.the other 2 a beefmaster and a char cross aved $1325ea or a tad more before deducts.

no thats not low for short bred cows that missed calving this year.heres why the 2 beefmaster cows was 10yrs and 11yrs old.the other beefmaster was 5yrs and the char cross was 4yrs old.on the beefmasters the called them 5yrs and short and solid.now they mightve brought more in the weigh cow sale i dont know.but either way i can buy another reg cow now.

and i have 1 rule if i dont want her in my herd.i wont sell her off the farm to another herd.they go to the sale barn.

I see. I didn't realize they had that much age on them.

ive got 12yr pair that i didnt load because her calf wouldnt come into the corral.if her calf had came into the pen she wouldve been gone.

I wish I had some to sell I just bought bred cows that will start calving end of this month and next.

i got the results of the sale last nite.1 cow weighed 1507lbs the other weighed 1420lbs.and both brought a $1 a lb to the slaughter house.so its a good time to sell your cull cows.a buddy sent and old fighting cow and 2 or 3 calves and did real good on those.

I would say you did fairly well considering they went to the sale barn. Like you said, at least you can go buy another cow or two.

i bought those cows in 2008.and i broke even on them as they cleared what i gave for them.so im more than happy.had a guy offer to buy a 3 day old heifer calf at weaning.all i have todo is name the price.but she really isnt for sale.
