I have some bred cows that will weigh 1400 to 1500 lbs, I have heard that there are some salebarns that will sell them by the lb. Was wondering if anybody knew of any that did . They would need to be near SW Missouri. Could be nearby states if not over 200-300 miles. Thanks for any replies.

Not familiar with your area but the sales at Athens and Emory TX sell the breds by the pound. Last time I figured it would cost about $50/hd to ship them here. That area has started getting rain again, so there should be some demand for good bred cows. Might be worth a try with a load.

I am about 60 miles southeast of springfield so i know the area. with the drought and feed prices there are alot of what would normaly be good cows that are being sold by the pound at every salebarn. springfield cow sale on mondays joplin on wednesday in my opinion one of the best and my favorite ava on thursday i go every week and they normaly have 400 to 500 cows after feeders and have been weighing a pretty big number of them. there are severel other sales if you have need any more information let me know

Generally cows sell by the head. If they bring less that way because they are older or folks are not bidding for other reasons, the ring man will stop and start selling them by the pound for kill cows. That is what happens at most auctions around here anyway. If they'll bring more by the pound, that's the route the barn will take. Its a win/win for the seller and for the barn who is getting a commission.
