Brangus Heifers

I was out at my place today and I decided to take some pictures of some of my heifers. (The ones that would stand and pose for me)



This is the one that I posted about her temperament a while back, I haven't had any issues with her, she get's a little flighty when penned but other then that is fine.





This is one of the two heifers that I purchased to start the cow craze.

Is it just me or do quite of few of those seem awfully long toed? Almost foundered looking.

I took the pictures with my phone and I zoomed in to take better pictures of the animals individually might have something to do with that, the smaller ones I zoomed in quite a bit more. However I'm fairly new to cattle and it could be a possible issue do you mind pointing out which ones really stick out to you and I'll try and get more pictures of there feet next time I'm out there.

Some nice heifers in there especially the younger ones. Mr. Doguet has just about bred all the navel off of those. Pay close attention to the feet on the older ones. A couple appear to be growing long toes.

Going to have to trim them at this point as if they continue to grow like that they will get sore and lame.

Look at the feet on #s 33,33,1045 for sure 1054 might have a problem and 493,492,484 may be developing an issue. What are these heifers being fed?

They eat grass, hay bales, I'd say about 3-4 bags of cubes a week I also have a purina accuration tub and free choice texas wind and rain 7.5 minerals.

How many pounds of cubes per head per day?

Well I have 24, I feed anywhere between 2-4 50 pound bags a week I spread it out so they all have a chance to get some. 2 bags would be .6 pounds and 4 bags would be 1.2 pounds each.

Should be getting some grass growth down that way by now. Leave the tub out if you want but I'd discontinue the cubes now...they no longer need them.

I'd agree here, I would even get rid of the tub if you have enough green growth.

Ok I'll only throw cubes for the time being to get animals penned, I had no idea over feeding led to hoove problems, I called and left a voice mail for someone who comes out and does hoof trimming, I'd rather correct this problem before it comes more of an issue then it is already. I appreciate y'all pointing that out because I had no idea.

not much other than trim..make sure the bull your using has a good heel, those shallow heels cause the weight to be on the rear of the foot,not enough to keep the toe wore down. especially this time of year when the ground is soft and wet..
