Bowles J5 Red Angus Sale

I spent the afternoon at the last bull sale of the year locally....Bowles J5 Red Angus of Chinook Mt. had their first local sale alone- having before sold together with Spear J....

The rain last week definitely helped them- and there was quite an interest for their bulls....Bulls looked nice and were quiet dispositioned.....

They sold 38 bulls and averaged over $2300 in my rough figures...40 commercial heifers average $895- with most the registered ones selling for less than that :shock: :???:

Mitch Knaff of Glasgow bought the top bull- which sold 1/2 semen interest/full possesion- a VDAR Chief Joseph 420 son out of a JHE Canyon Hawk 1062 cow for $4000... He also bought the top pen of 20 commercial heifers for $920......

Glad to hear that Brady & Jim did ok. Great people! I wish it could have averaged a little more for them though.

These bulls all sold quite evenly- and I think all went to commercial ranchers....Top bull was $4000 like I said- and the bottom one was $1700- but most were around $2200....A few of the registered heifers went to breeders with the top selling heifer going to Spear J for $1200.....

A couple of the neighbors picked up some nice looking smaller framed bulls that were sons of Buf Crk Lancer F-L297- that should definitely be calving ease deluxes...One (# 1188936) had 62 lb BW and -4.9 EPD, another (#1188928) was 69lb BW and -6.5 EPD and the ultimate (which has to be the lowest BW EPD I've ever saw) was a bull ( # 1188933) that had a 55 lb actual BW, -9.1 EPD, and a 624 WW....He sold for $2200....

Heres a picture of the Buf Crk Lancer- FL297 bull...Its an old one and not as good as the newer one in Bowles catalog, since he growed up, which caught my eye right away- and shows a deep, meaty bull....

This says he is a 5.1 frame bull- but I think a couple of those sons that sold were 4's- altho its tough to tell sitting in the stands....

If he was the right color I might be interested ;-) :P :lol:

I feel bad for the prices. You would have thought they would have brought more. I sold 5 head recently and 6 embryos for 19,700 dollars. One of the heifers that sold went for 1/2 interest/full possession for 7,700 and then one of the other heifers went for 5,000 full possession. The embryos went for 3,500. I was very surprised considering cattle prices. I must say it was a pleasent surprise.

What do you mean dream on? So you are jealous because your cattle dont sale that high or what? I sent you proof of all this directly from the ASA as emailed to me from them. READ EM AND WEEP and STAY JEALOUS.

So you sent me the results from someones sale. What does that prove? Am I suppose to believe that was your sale?

It proves if you read the pm correctly as Knersie did and every one else that I sent it to. That some cattle that I owned half interest in sold in that sale for the price that I quoted earlier. I think you are just jealous that your cattle dont sale that high.

So you are Claiborne Farms? Don't believe that has ever been mentioned on here.

It does not look like you ever told us you were in a partnership either. So how can you bash one fella for owning half interest in cattle when it is obvious you do the same thing. This all sounds very hypocritical to me. Isn't your name John Droz?

I aint neither. Just out of curiosity why do you want to bash someone for doing the same thing that you do? Which is owning half interest in some cattle and then selling those in a Sale with a person he is partners with? Youd better watch out. Remember he is a tattle tale and he will tell on ya and get you reprimanded or worse yet banned from the board.
