I am a t totaler, but from Ky. I have always been told, but don't know for sure that bourbon was aged in oak barrels, and whiskey was not. I think the barrels are also charred on the inside.

Whiskey can be aged in oak barrels. Jed bourbon can only be made in America! Bourbon has been made in Searcy County.

For a cheaper route I've been drinking Benchmark. I believe it is made by Buffalo Trace. 101 does taste good but still gives me the shivers when I recall how sick I've been with it. I think I overserved myself a time or two. :)

The main thing is its got to be no less than 51% corn and no more than 79% corn and aged for at least two years and it cannot be distilled at more than 160 proof so it will have more flavors since no additives are allowed.

We have a winner!!! Also has to into the barrel at at least 125 proof and be aged in the barrel for 2 years. Bourbon can only be called bourbon if make in the USA!!!

I thought it could only be made in Kentucky. Thought that's why Jack Daniels wasn't a bourbon, guess I got mixed up on something. Anyway Crown is all I drink, Charter makes me sleepy, Jim and Jack hurt to much even though back in the 20's it was all Jim Beam.
RBB you can relate to this story, we were in Clinton (dry county and town) one night and it was already getting late too. Opened the door on the truck and a brand new full bottle of Beam rolled out and busted on the ground. I almost cried.
That was the only bad thing about running those hillbilly girls, everything up there is dry. I sure had fun in those days though.

You just didn't know the bootlegger Jed. In Searcy and Newton Counties you could get 24 hour service at a few of the bootleggers. One in Jasper had a drive threw window.

jed when you got nothing to do go to the liquor store and pick up a bottle of "Fighin' Cock". Drink about half of it. You will make even AC look intelligent and will hurt for days. :lol2: :lol2:
