After using a Powder River headgate and temp cattle panels for the last 5 years to work my cattle, I decide it was about time to upgrade handling facilities so last week I order a new Filson Squeeze Chute and Palp Gate. The stuff arrived today and I am very pleased. I looked at several different model and makers and decided that for MY needs the Filson equipment made in Kansas would suit my needs just fine. I don't run a large herd and my cattle are not wild so this equipment will be a good start on my new handling facilities. Next thing I need to do is plan out my holding pens, sweeps and alleys so I can begin bulding them this fall when it cools off.

Nah,

Couldn't get the wife to turn loose of any of her "egg & butter" money. I didn't go elsewhere looking for any money.

I sold some calves earlier in the spring and turned them into this squeeze chute.
 
Did the chute come from South Cherokee County? There is a guy down there that sales that brand. They are good well built chutes. Congrads!
 
Just wait till next time to run cows. It'll be worth every penny. We just got a Priefert exactly like it. AND the good ole government paid 35% in their Beef Improvement Incentive thing. All we had to do was register for BQA and Premise ID and fill out a couple of forms.

They'll last a lot longer and the help won't be out in the weather.

Lets see........you need a fridge, hot and cold running water, a big rat proof cabinet, a new semen tank................

Just let me come up and help design it for you. :lol: :lol:
 
MikeC, I'm open to suggestions and ideas on the layout if you ever make it up my ways. The shed will come after the 1st of the year. Maybe 'lectricy in the barn too.

Alabama, I didn't get the trailer wheels but I can load it on a trailer using the hay spear. ;-) Come get it.

Mike you should take some pictures of how you have yours set up. I have seen it and it is one of the best in the area.
 
MikeC, I'd welcome any input (or picture) you may provide on the design of the holding pens, corrals, alley, etc..... I'm not looking for something fancy just a design that is functional and easy to work the cattle with miniminal stress.
