The boss snd I are going on another great adventure this year in the motor home. Trying to figure out a schedule to get the calves vaccinated. We are going to be gone for 5 weeks so can we give first round before we leave then second round when we return? We have never been gone when this was an issue so I would think it’s fine but have never asked this question.

Edit in the past we have just given the booster at three to four weeks as per package instructions.

I am not sure I understand what you are saying Burno these calves have had no vaccinations at this point we have always given a booster. My question was time between first round and second round. There have been enough studies done to prove the booster helps boost the immune response for me to give a booster. I am not questioning the need for a booster just the timing. That being said vaccines are totally up to each individual, if you don’t believe boosters are necessary don’t give them.

They are working towards endless boosters now we have to get most our meds from the vet in this state.
You can’t even buy banamine at the feed store. Cost fifty bucks for a tube at the vet.
2019 required a prescription from a vet for all antibiotics.
The industry is working to get it all.

The state here is slowly pushing every thing to the vet.
All antibiotics and pain relief is already there. I was being factious somewhat on the vaccines. It’s all being sold under herd health and safety.

I suppose that would include LA300 as well. We can still buy Banamine and LA 300 here without script from the vet.

Tetracyclines and penicillin will become prescription products in 2023.

Antibiotics and pain relief products aren't vaccines, nor are they ever referred to as booster shots given 3-4 weeks apart. Your refusal to answer which vaccine has a 3 shot protocol or to be held accountable only proves my point.

Some members can post anything whether true or false, anywhere they choose.

Lepto it’s never ending ever six months in hog invested areas. After the initial then every six months is three in a year!
It’s six bucks a pop per bovine right now. Wait till you have to have to get it from vet.
I just dropped fifty bucks for a tube of banimine. Three years ago you could get a bag for 6 bucks before 2020.
I am not sure there effective either as I sold two vaccinated cows with lepto. I got my clocked cleaned on open young cows at the barn two weeks ago due to ineffective vaccines.

We have neighbor and I both had 30 month old heifers that wouldn’t close. We hauled them to Nacogdoches earlier this month. Two to three year old open heifer going through the ring is not pretty. Ten years ago we didn’t know what leptospirosis was until the calves started dying. My old fishing partner lost everyone of his SH calves that year to it.
TAMU instructions were initial then yearly booster on the 6 way vaccines then boosters every six months is the advice for hog infected areas in recent years.
Vet thinks they are not staying refrigerated in transport. I ask ever batch? Once you use it any left is supposed to be disposed of your not supposed to use the leftovers again.
That’s a lot of money down the drain on ineffective vaccines causing the loss of cattle.
