BOOK REVIEW: "Killing Lincoln"

Do not let your political differences w/ O'Reilly preclude you from reading this book!!! My book preferences are always non-fiction (1) historical and (2) crime stuff. This book combines it all, and it is totally attention-binding, covering about a 3-week period, from the near-end of the civil war, through Lincoln's assassination, and the aftermath, with lots of detail I've never read anywhere before about Boothe's pre-planning, the conspiracy/the conspirators, and the search and reckoning for them. Great read. I highly recommend it! :2cents:

COSTCO had it on the book table Sunday for around $16.00.

I borrowed the book from a friend. Will look for it at Costco, as it's definitely worth a second read.

Haven't read that one. I ran out of stuff to read a month or so back and re-read THE HELP, NIGHT OF THE GRIZZY, A PAINTED HOUSE and WATER FOR ELEPHANTS. I need to dig out SON OF THE MORNING STAR again, too . . .

And I need to rent that recent Lincoln movie.

Haven't read that one. I ran out of stuff to read a month or so back and re-read THE HELP, NIGHT OF THE GRIZZY, A PAINTED HOUSE and WATER FOR ELEPHANTS. I need to dig out SON OF THE MORNING STAR again, too . . .

And I need to rent that recent Lincoln movie.

I really liked A Painted House. The episode about "shyt snakes" may be the funniest thing I ever read.

3WayX, I've read alot of Grisham's stuff -- A Painted House was quite different than his norm. But if you grew up in that era, you totally get it! He has something else "out of norm" for him that I read within the last year -- can't remember the name of it (fiction), about playing football in Italy. That wasn't riveting, but it was entertaining for a light read.

I didn't just grow up then I spent most of my summers in Missouri which on a clear day ain't a LOT different than Arkansas. So I could relate to a lot of that book.

The one you are referring to is just plain boring I have started it 4 or 5 times. It's Playing For Pizza I think

Yeah, it is Playing for Pizza! It starts out slow, and it's not a fast paced book. If you're looking for big action Grisham, it's not in Playing for Pizza!
