I finally read a book. We have periodic discussions here on CT and I've not been able to participate.
The River of Doubt Theodore Roosevelt's Darkest Journey is the tale of a 1000 mile trip down an unmapped South American river. I recommend it. Four stars on a 5 star scale, I think.

Nearly killed him, along with the exertion. Not sure if it was the first time, for malaria.

I seem to remember hearing about that trip and how weak he was upon his return.

I've been to Sagamore Hill a few times, thought the place was pretty cool and enjoyed learning about him and his family. That's the first time I ever knew of anyone being named Kermit.

Read that one several years ago was a good book. another about his ranching days in n.dakota. pretty good one also.
