Finally learning grasses and have some type of bluegrass with seeds at top which look gold color and wonder if I took some of the seeds from thick area and plant in area without would it germinate or would they need to be seeded.

I do believe that would be the definition of seeding. It'd be about the same? Might not come up as fast. If they're not dried out, they will have to dry, i am pretty sure.

I do this with clover at the road side. It is somewhat of a pure stand after the state mows it the first time. I weed eat it, rake it, and throw it over the fence. Did it last year for the first time. This year, it is obvious where i've throw it over.

The bluegrass short is height?

I've employed my granddaughter to pull the seed heads off Johnson grass and crabgrass and pack em in bags. Once good and dry just dump in the cone spreader and thrash em in the the spreader. And yes it is seeding and it works. Just make sure the seed is mature. Basically when it shatters.
