blocking cattle

Help Support CattleToday:

the problem is, i have to clip my cows tomorrow and i kind of know how to do them..... i guess i am going to just block the head and neck, and if i can, the underline...

the underline gets clipped tail to head, right??

I realize from your post that this information is too late, but maybe will be worthwhile for future needs. Her is a site that has some pretty good information about clipping, grooming and fitting. http://dallas.tamu.edu/fitandshow/

In response to your underline question: Quite a bit of hair is left on the underline. The objective is to make the underline appear flat/level from udder to brisket. Do not clip to the contour of the animal.

Yes you leave hair on the belly to make them flat from udder to brisket. But depending on how deep you animal is tells you how long to leave it just tip it if they need depth ro take off more to make them look less deep.

Then if they have a short neck then you take off alot of hair to make it look longer and clip down the forarm.

I like to give a helping hand so i hope i helped!
