I have some "new" pasture this year and it's about 50% alfalfa and 50% grass(brome, reed canary, and fescue) would you be concerned about bloat on this?

just as with any other "new" feed. If they have been eating alfalfa hay then the risks are reduced etc. Introduce them slowly, keep checking them very often to start with. Maybe give them a bale of straw to eat if they desire.

i would put your cattle on HI MAG minerals 2 to 3wks before you turn them on the new pasture.the time period gets the minerals in their system.an drasticaly cuts the chances of bloat.an keep feeding the minerals while they are grazing that pasture.
