I am planting several acres of oats/rye mix for my cows to graize.
Will the oats be a problem (bloat) I am planting 80% oats w 20% winter rye.

oats wont be a bloat problem but if you feed to much protien while they're on oats they can founder. the rye could make them bloat though if you dont control feed on it

I have pure winter rye seeded, and i graze it in the spring and the fall.Usually let it get to be 4 to 6 inches high, before i turn the cows and calves out on it,never had a animal bloat or even worry about it.I turn them out on the whole field, and leave them there until they graze it off,and then move them on to the next field.
