today when i was checking my cattle i noticed a 4month heifer that had pinkeye n both eyes.well when we go 2 put her n the corral i realize that she is blind.finally get her n the chute and treat her with eye wash, pen and LA300.will she regain any of her sight? i have been fighting pinkeye all summer long.seems like everyday i find at least one more that has it.

I had a calf last year that went blind from pinkeye, took six weeks or so of medication, but it recovered some of it's eyesight

Been fighting it like crazy too. Got rid of most with NFZ puffer but called the vet on two that I can't seem to break. She gave me some tetradure (see other post on pinkeye) to see if that would fight it off.

FWIW Noromycin is a generic tetradure. The over-the-counter dosage is 3ml/100 and lasts 3-4 days. The Rx dosage is 4.5ml/100 and maintains blood levels for 7-8 days.

I'd treat her, feed her out and eat her. They'll steal her in the barns.
thats pretty much my plan.shes a shorthorn/hereford x and i dont want to c her sale for 50 cents at the sale.

my blind heifer seems to have recovered eyesight n both eyes.pretty spooky though, maybe from when she was blind.

Had it bad last summer here... I think we sewed eyes shut on at least half the herd. Only lost one heifer calf that we couldn't catch. Everything else healed up although some have some scarring. Vaccinated for it this year and didn't have a single case but I know a lot of cattlemen that did.

Not one case this year, been vaccinating for pink eye for over 15 years now. Doc says you will get a case at least once every 5 years. I think we are more athe opposite - clean once every 5 years..lol.
Have a blind heifer we AI'd this spring for 2011. Doc says she'll be able to raise the calf just fine...we'll see.
