I had a calf born a few days ago that is black with a white face. She was small and seemed a little weak and the mama has big ugly teats and has had trouble feeding calves before. To give the calf a better chance I've snuck out to the pasture with a bottle of formula the last couple of evenings. The calf seems stronger but tonight I noticed the calf has almost totally white eyes. It's face is white and the skin around the eyes is pink. I guess I was always watching for the cow to come after me and did not notice until tonight how the eyes looked. I can't see any pupil at all and they seem to be all white cloudy looking. Have you ever seen a calf with "blue" eyes or do you think the calf is blind?
 
We actually have one with blue eyes. I thought the same thing, but she is always alert and knows where everything is. I asked the vet, and he checked her out, and said her eyes were good, she just had blue eyes.
 
We had one with white eyes a few years ago.Its was not born with white eyes .
It had a temp.We started it on antibotics and the white slowly went away.
It could see fine about a week later.
 
Thanks for the replies. I could tell the next day the calf was somewhat sick because she was hanging her head and coughing some. I talked to my vet and he sent antibiotics home with me and seemed to think her eyes would get better as she improved. I'm hoping for the best with the eyes.

In my experience white eyes does not neccessarily mean it is blind, it may be ill, get it on the right medication and it should clear up nicely.
