black baldie surprise

Surprise black baldie calf yesterday. I had a registered Horned Hereford bull for a while last fall, along with my SimAngus bull. Second picture was her calf from last year sired by the SimAngus. Apparently the Horned Hereford sired this calf but I sure wasn't expecting a black baldie.

Not a surprise to me - she's a 'black-factor' cow with the color dilution gene... but what you could have gotten from that mating is almost anyone's guess... coulda been a solid color pattern, could have been yellow/orange, could have been gray...
