What do you guys look for in terms of this ratio. Obviously, the lower the bw and the higher the ww, the better but what would you consider average good and bad?

I have never thought of it in a ration aspect. That is a good question. Low BW to High WW is what you look for, although usually low BW's equal lower WW's. That is not always right, but it is usually.

I like to see a 95 lb BW and a 600 + lb WW. I find that 90 - 110 lb BW are best on our cows. We don't have to help them calve, and the calves usually grow well. Any higher than that and the calves often don't grow as well, usually because they were a hard birth (whether assisted or not). Once you get much lower than 70-75 lbs the calves also seem to be slower growers.
