Hope you got your hay for next year already. I think we're going to have a repeat of 2005-6 where hay was in short supply. We always stay a year ahead on hay, but did get 300 rolled up before it started raining.

Everybody around here it seems has been rolling up hay the last 10 days are so. Drive down the road and all I see is rolls of hay. Tropical storm is probably going to bring it to a halt pretty soon but most folks around here should have first cutting completed.

SE Okla just across the line most haven't even started to cut hay. Was just getting dry enough to get in the meadows and then more rain in the forecast.
Doh, i meant the year to be 2009.... but Texas has been though many hay shortages.. We had over 3 inches the past couple days. First cuttings around here were thin. All our custom customers are going to have to wait, and thats if we'll ever get caught up...

We're small and buy our hay. Thankfully we put the last bale in the barn Saturday just before our rain started. After trucking in hay from WI and TX a few years back, having it in the barn in June eases my mind.
If we dont get any more rain, we'll be sitting good... Wonder what the chances are the rain stops at this point..lol We went out to the furthest point of our place to check a herd of cows. We saw the clouds coming. Had a cow who couldnt find her calf so we were held up longer than we knew we had. Husband flew home in the gator, petal to the metal. We got home just as the bottom dropped out...

This morning has been worse than yesterday here. Already got another 1" since I got up around 5:30, and it's also windier than yesterday.
I guess the storm moving North is streamin/pulling gulf moisture in behind it. I'm pretty sick of this wet weather. My grass needs some sunshine--just not much photosythensis happening and it's all water in leaf and stem. Cows are having to graze twice as much to get the same amt of protein they normally would and I really should be supplementing some protein if things don't improve weather wise. Too much moisture is just as bad as drought in some ways, especially since it was just too wet to get any fertilize down early spring or late winter.

Bill is here now (south of Houston). It blew a bit last night, and has been raining lightly. Not as much as Memorial Day when we flooded and caused the Brazos River to come out. We hardly have any standing water. The storm went mostly south of us.
I still have not been able to put a garden in because of the wet. Doesn't look like I will. Our pastures are lush!

I got almost nothing out of my spring garden except tomatoes. For some reason they are doing exceptionally well. My 8 inch carrots are only 1 inch long and wide....my potatoes rotted, half my onions rotted.. Lettuce did well but bolted early. Cucumbers are doing ok... I plan to plant corn in july...
Our pastures are liking all this water. But we live where its wet normally. Belly deep everywhere and once the sun does heat things up, the lespedeza will finish us off to weaning time...
