Tomorrow is Vaccination day. That is such a chore to do but feels good to get it done. We've got some help coming thankfully. But boy am i nervous. Crazy psyhco cow is in the bunch. I just have to remember to let her know who is the boss, and keep my eye on the fence to jump. Thankfully she is gone in the fall. Sooner if we have no grass.

Breathe in...

Breathe out...

...and when all else fails, to calm down just picture the worse thing that could happen -- then recognize that you've already been there, done that, and got the "stuff" on your t-shirt to prove it... and you've learned how much since those first costly mistakes on vaccination days?

...see, it's not so bad... :cboy:

put that crazy bimbo through the chute as soon as you can.an keep a stout axe handle handy.

It would be vacc day for us tomorrow BUT I have changed the schedule on that. I have decided not to vaccinate until the fall..I hope it doesn't bite me in the bottom.. :cowboy:

Good luck and I know exactly how you feel ,but you have help this year; yayyyyyy,,

If I had a cow that troubled me that much and had her in a pen, the next step would be to get her ass in a trailer and let her be the butchers problem.

Life is too short to let a crazy cow control your herd managment and cause worry about necessary herd work.

Alternative two would be to take the 270 and drop her where the shot could be safely made and count yourself lucky that she is gone..

god never made a cow that was that special to let her terrorize your herd and crew.

WE DID IT!
Crazy cow was only crazy in the head gate while i was rfid tagging her. We had three pens going for sorting
1. cows to pasture 1
2 cows to pasture 2, directly related to the bull in pasture 1
3. psycho cows, there they will recieve no bull, go in the fall when the calves are weaned or when we run out of grass...maybe sooner than expected this year.

All went well. No injuries, calves are doing ok. But not great. The grass is not growing, we are still feeding, and they do not want to eat hay, they want grass. So they are willing to graze on nothing. But he hay is there. We are going to get some protien tubs for them. The coats are rough, not smooth and shiny, and have a red tinge where they should be black. And they get and eat free choice mineral all the time.

not the best year.

10 ended up in the cow pen. 3 due to age and poor BCS, missing teeth and just all round figuring if it was going to be a hard summer they would have a hard time coping on pasture. 7 due to bad attitudes. They will get the home pastures and no bull.
We rfid tagged a several more that are staying on the farm if the hay is good but if it is poor they have have first dibs on wheels.
