Had a set of twins last night, and a really big calf. Pulled one twin for the bottle. Thought I'd show a little video to try to show the size difference. Not sure what the twin weighs, but the big calf weighed 143 lbs.

I would have to say not much chance with ears like that. I have had more than my share of very small (too small) calves that I have a hunch belong to that bull though.
 
That is a big difference in size. The larger calf doesn’t look to be 143lbs to me.
We had a hanging scale that we use to weigh them and it got stepped on so we had to buy a new one. We thought we had a few 100 lb ET heifers. We bought a new scale and it turned out that the old one was pretty high.
Not saying that he not that big, but after what happened to us, we’re going to check our scale more often.

I've checked it with salt blocks in the past and it was bang on to that weight anyway. The video really doesn't do this calf justice, he catches me at the belt buckle and is thick to boot. More calf there than I'd like to see on a regular basis. I helped this cow, she was acting like she should be calving but wasn't getting after it. I put her in the chute to check her out and as soon as I grabbed its feet I knew it was exceptionally large. But she wasn't 100% dilated yet, so I spent some time working on her cervix until I felt it was safe to try to pull. The head came fairly easy, then she started to push and I couldn't keep up with the puller. I'm thinking she would have had this calf herself had I use the "benign neglect" method. That calf was up and sucking as fast as any 80 lb calf I've seen.
 
He is big and thick.. My bull seems to be throwing some big calves, but nothing bigger than any other, though I did have a few kinda small calves from mature cows I wasn't really expecting.. I could believe he's 140. I had one small cow have something right up there, needed a little help, put chains on while she was standing, didn't use the puller, just a bit by hand, slight hiplock.. She's a small cow, 5 years old I think?


This guy was probably over 120.. not sure by how much, didn't feel like lifting him



This one was the only hard pull I had, smallish 1st timer with a 110 lb heifer calf.. I thought (and hoped) she'd have twins from her size and the amount of moving that was going on in her belly.. It took them both a day to get up but they're doing really good now, she's a great momma and has lots of milk, the calf is SOOOO cute and social
 
They could be out of two different bulls actually, or even could of got bred on two different heats. Stange, and rare, but possible.

I think the twins were similar sized and shown as a comparison next to a really big calf, not one huge and one small twin.. at least that's what I'm understanding
