best way to indentify grasses

I was asked in another thread what kind of grass I have and I was embarrassed to admit that I wasn't sure (it's a perennial pasture so I can't know based on what was planted).

Does anyone have a really good link to a site that makes identification of different grasses easy?

I've found some sites but (as with most tree/bird/insect, etc.. identification guides that I've every used) they are VERY abiguous (black and white pictures, etc...).

Check with your local NRCS office and see if they have a chart available that is used to identify grasses. I have one that is about 6-7 pages long of the different identifying charcteristics and takes you all the way through the process.

NRCS has an online database, you can check in out at www.plants.usda.gov
