What is the best or easiest way to clean off madded mud clumps, off of a steer or heifer's hair. Is it best to just cut it off, or is their another way?

Really wet the clumps down then scrub and/or brush them out. If that doesn't work, just chop them off. How easy they are to remove depends on where they are.

Try WD-40 or Fluid Film, they are both penetrating oils that will not irritate the animals skin, it may take a couple tries to work out all of the mud balls.

rinse, lather, repeat, rinse, lather, repeat, rinse, lather, repeat, rinse, lather, repeat, rinse, lather, repeat, rinse, lather, repeat, rinse, lather, repeat, rinse, lather, repeat, rinse, lather, repeat, rinse until all clean

If you use an oil then oil, rinse, lather, rinse

Daily rinsing will help with the problem. If you seek hair growth, matted hair will inhibit it.
