Being Politically Correct

Isn't that the holiday where you have an aluminum pole standing in the living room instead of a tree?

Indeed it is. Unfortunately, with the tough economy and the high cost of aluminum we had to down size our pole this year. Was hoping to get a deal on a flag pole out of Texas a few weeks ago but folks became reasonable and blew the deal.(don't you hate that?)

While there is a lot to be said for a good cat fight that normally occurs after the "airing of differences" my favorite is the "feats of stremgth". Here is a good pic of Lil T showing his stuff.

vett, got friends and family down south of I-10 and they think nothing goes with Christmas like tamales. Never had them at Christmas but guess it could become (and probably will become) the new Christmas meat eventually.
I am going to show my ignorance here but what is or are Tamales?? the only Tamales I know are the Tamil Tigers of Sri Lanka. :dunce:

Oh wow. It is a mexican dish made from the meat of a hog head spices and finely ground corn.

Easier to give a link to a site how to make them than to explain it. Really quite tasty.

It is a ethnic Mexican dish. Being that it is wrapped and steamed in corn husk and you have to "unwrap" them to eat them. Hence the Mexican Christmas present.

Thanks for that vett...I have not seen them before, if I ever go to a Mexican resturant I will look out for them and maybe try one. but I am not big on hot spicy food, gives me jip in the stomach after an hour.

Trouble with tamales, unless their is a little ole Mexican woman in the back of the restaurant making them..... well their is authentic and store bought.

Then you've never been approached, and bought from, the right "chef"

Daddy had a milkhand whose wife could really cook Mexican food. Every time the milkhand got in trouble with daddy, his wife would send down some delicious dish. When my brother and sister and I were visiting daddy one evening, the milkhand showed up with a humongous bunch of tamales...so we figured he was really in trouble.

Anyway, when we'd plowed thru about 3/4s of these fantastic tasting tamales, Daddy asked my brother, "I haven't seen that scraggly looking St. Barnard Dan drug in...have you?"

:shock:We all backed away from the table.
