Beef demand going down............

I'm no expert but it may hold that way thru winter but Americans are selfish enough come summertime nothing beats a hamburger or steak on the grill. Something is always headed up or headed down. China is tied in hard on the pork now can't help but wonder if that's not part of it. Also any protein takes similar grains to produce and plant to process. In theory those costs are roughly equal for all. Beef can be taken farther on grass and reduce that some as well as being produced less commercially by a lot of producers in theory spreading overhead out. I think if push comes to shove you can put it on the table for same or less per lb.

My :2cents: and that's probably overpriced.

This morning the market report said price had dropped to 2013 prices, a 600 lb steer is bringing $420 less than this time last year.

Poultry and swine have exceptionally efficient digestive system even though both have to be fed a considerable amount of grain. Cattle on the other hand digest less but also can put on gain with consumption of good grass. Never have checked for any comparative research but figure in the end it's a wash and totally dependent on what you are wanting at the time. We go through a variety of beef, pork, chicken and fish every week.
