Anyone else having a hard time finding fairly priced beef bottle calves?

Fair is relative but for me I haven't found any " Fair" priced ones in several years.

Yes. Most beef calves are raised on their momma till weaning... So limited supply + demand = high prices.
Lots of dairy bottle calves for sale, mostly Holsteins, but those prices have been staying plenty high too.

Theres a lot of holstein bull calves but beef breed not so much
At this timing of year, you should see bottle beef calves starting to show up at the sales soon. Plenty of Dairy X Beef cross calves tho.

I wander if there a business market for selling Holstein/British Blue feeder calves, from the look of the pictures I have seen they look real good.

It has never occurred to me that someone would WANT to bottle feed anything. An orphan I get, but to actually seek them out??? What gives?
With dairy I understand you want to get mama back into production and I can see a nursery with a row of nippled bottles for the milk sub, but beef calves?
Is this extremely profitable or just a labor of love?
