Be an organ donor . . . and rodeo!

A high point at this afternoon's E-burg Rodeo. A couple of them, actually, that cover a few years. We have a friend here, very close family friend -- went through school with my husband's son -- now in his 30s, that spent his life until a few years ago, hanging on, trying to survive Cystic Fibrosis, a disease that eats up your lungs. Dan's only sister died at 12 from CF. Dan had a double lung transplant and is doing well -- amazingly well, several years ago. While he was hospitalized for that, his family met and we eventually met, a little gal not yet then 20 that went through the same procedure at same time: Double lung transplant. CAN YOU IMAGINE?! I can't! Both Dan and Brooke are doing very well, but are monitored lots, to keep up the success. So, HE, Dan, always wanted to be part of the Ellensburg Top Hands group in support of our rodeo. And he made it last year! The young gal, Brooke, lives on the west side, made good friends with Dan's family. Brooke has been here for rodeo the last couple years, spending time w/ in-laws an out-laws of Dan. This year, she made a sign: PLEASE KISS ME JJ! That would be JJ Harrison, rodeo clown extrordinaire! And it worked today! She was sooo tickled. Waiting for the pics to come up. Understand, neither Dan nor Brooke would ever have been able to even attend rodeo without the procedures they endured -- might not have even been alive for 2015. So glad they are both doing so well! Keep that in mind -- if you are on the fence about making donations of your body parts, should something unexpectedly happen to you, and you have "good parts" that your body won't miss when you're gone. Be an organ donor -- put that on your driver's license.

Yes, I have always been an organ donor. Your body parts are no good to you if you are dead, or even just brain dead! Why not help others after you are gone?

Some people may be opposed to it because it freaks them out, or it's against their religious beliefs. That's ok. But they really should visit the transplant unit and see what it can do for peoples lives! It is a true blessing!

With any luck, they can use enough of my organs to get my family a half price deal on my cremation! :lol:

Yes, I have always been an organ donor. Your body parts are no good to you if you are dead, or even just brain dead! Why not help others after you are gone?

Branguscowgirl, didn't know you get a credit for cremation after harvest! Do they do that?? 8)

I was never a organ donor until my son was born at 2 weeks old he was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis.it was one of the worst days of my life. no ever wants to hear a Dr say your child has a chronic disease.

No we haven't need to yet and hopefully never will.he's only 6 and so far very healthy.
