What kind of grills/bbqs and/or smokers do ya'll like gas, charcoal, ect.

Do ya'll do all of outdoor cooking?

I prefer the flavor of a charcoal grill but use my gas grill most of the time for convenience, also have a propane smoker and a new propane griddle that the wife got me for Christmas. I like having cookouts or just cooking out when it's just the 2 of us. I also have a 4 gallon homemade fish cooker, a turkey fryer and a 30 quart crawdad cooker. I really need a bigger crawdad pot. Speaking of crawdads, it's about time to cook a sack of them. I cook low country boil with shrimp through the winter then switch to crawdads when they're in season.

Charcoal.
But, I use a LOT of pecan in my smoker, and now that I'm removing some 25+ yr old apple trees from the orchard, I've got quite a bit of apple wood to feed through the smoker...makes for a milder, lighter colored bark than the pecan(and other hickories).

I have a charcoal and a pellet grill. I use the pellet grill almost everytime. When i do use the charcoal it is with lump charcoal. Not briquettes drowned in lighter fluid. :ROFLMAO:

What do ya'll call them? Bbqs or grills? We need to get a new one trying to decide what to get. I been eye balling them griddles. We have something similar inside. We been cooking out all winter. Our oven broke after 15 years.... it wasn't new than just when we bought this crib. The oven we want double oven with convection bake had been on back order. You would be surprised everything we have learned to cook on the grill. 😁 we like to think of it as a grill challenge. 🤣 we could be mad about the oven being broke or move along. 😎

Depends on what your doing. Bbq and grilling. Two completely different things.

If you want a griddle then get one, but a griddle is definitely not a grill. If you want both, get a Cast Iron griddle top and put it on top of your grill. Definitely harder with charcoal, but with gas it is an easy way to have both.

BBQ-
uses indirect, low, and slow heat. The flames or coal is placed on the side of far below the meat. BBQ uses a moderate temperature.

Grill-uses high temperature and direct heat from either flaming charcoal or gas grill that radiates heat below the grill grate.

Thanks for clearing that up. I thought people in different areas said differently. Now I'm totally confused. Not a smoker just a grill as BBQ. Yes I'm aware the griddle isn't the same as a grill. That cast iron sounds nice. Maybe I'll just come try out ya'lls see what kind I want. 😆

I believe my griddle is a blackstone brand, I like it. I cook several things on it including some veggies. Great for hamburgers or blackened shrimp.
