Most of ya know how many I've got. ;-) :D And their birthday was this past weekend too! They're a year old now.

Had someone donate a nice "Kitty" several months ago. Just went to the barn one morning and it was there. Had been thinking about getting a cat for the barn so I guess the decision was made for me. As it turns out the barn kitty grew up and had a visit from a "friend". The barn cat was preggo a few days ago but when I saw her yesterday, she had gotten her figure back, soooooooooo I'm really not sure how many barn cats (or barn kittens) I have now.

Oh by the way, the cats name is Barn Cat.

well i still have the four babies, they'll be 1 in july. and my grandmothers cat that i inherited but she lives in the city still. Smokey fell off the old barn i think and sliced his back left leg open on some tin or a nail or something. he hat a nice cut about 4 inches long and looked like something had taken a chunk out of his leg when i found him, b/c it had separated so. he just got the stitches out today and its still pretty gross. Miss Cleo, Fern, and Bandit all hate him now for some reason. But nothing has stopped the little turd from trying to catch Minnie, Pearl, Conway and Radar, the new chickens.

3 active barn cats, 4 in training, and a couple who are on a rotational basis!

PS One of those that are in training just might get elevated to house cat status - not sure yet.

No. of shed cats = no. of cats wandering in minus no. of cats chased away.

Of course, then theres the no. of tom cats we catch and put a ring on, no. of cats resulting from not putting a ring on a tom . . .

Seriously, we have 5 shed cats between 3 main areas of sheds. But its always changing.

kinda sad around here - between the coyotes and the coon hounds, cats don't seem to stick around long

I have 2 city born house cats but outside kitties have to be very very smart and fast to survive...

hounds think a cat is just training for a racoon
they will spend the entire night barking at the bottom of a tree when they "know" the coon is up there
imagine what they do when a kitty kat passes by

by the way, the hay barn now has fencing to keep out the dogs after their last escapade with a barn cat - tore up 3 round bales (net wrap)

md, that is sad. I don't know what we'd do without our barn cats. We'd be overrun with field mice for sure!

the Jack Russell seems to keep these down
plus we have lots of rat poison due to the chicken houses
(in dog proof containers)

I think we just have two at the moment... who aren't doing much about the mice. I was moving hay yesterday and encountered at least 2 dozen under one bale. I caught six total; dogs like 'em.

We've had as many as 16 cats at one point, but the owls and cars and coyotes are always busy thinning the gene pool of ones that aren't fast enough or smart enough...

Barn cats come and go. Don't know where they come from, they just show up. The Rat Terriers usually run them off or kill them if they catch them. And the Rat Terriers keep the rats and mice in check, too.

My grandma had several, all long haired and gray and all named Lulu.

I think I have at least 2. I don't see them except for when they scatter. I guess I need more. I keep seeing mice everywhere. Nothing like getting a scoop of feed out a barrel and finding a mouse in the scoop.

Well, my momma barn cat has moved her 4 kittens back into my flower bed.  I guess it's a good thing I haven't gotten around to planting it yet. ;-)

I thought there were 2 both gray, I think  today I saw a brown one, I think  I believe I have two maybe more. :(

well at one time we had about 30 barn cats on 11acers with 23 building and now we have 11 with the sam eland a sbefore i tmost be my new "about to be cowdog" australian shepard

Update on the number of barn cats - today my niece discovered 2 more litters of 4 kittens each. That brings the total (as of today, anyway) to 3 adults & 12 kittens. The father appears to be of Siamese persuasion, as all of the kittens who have their eyes open have the bluest eyes I've ever seen!
