Bagging sialge

hello everyone , had a question about sialge . I am thinking on bagging some corn sialge in the tonne bags such as fertliszer come in and tieing them tight so no air can get in then piling them . Would this work to keep the sialge from spoiling? has anyone every tried anything like this . thanks

I don't think it will work because most sileage I have seen in the sileage bags is compressed pretty tight to get all of the air out
I don't think you can get it tight enough to prevent spoilage

I agree with AC. The only way you can "bag" silage is if you have it on a cement or dirt pad and pack it down with a good 4wd tractor then cover it in a tarp. It's way more difficult to get those nasty air pockets out of those sacks than it is when it's in a pile. BTW, those sacs are not really air tight either, because of the way it's meshed together, not one solid thing of plastic.

thanks for the replies , i have been packing the silage with the tractor for a while now , just seems to take a lot of time and i have a few smaller bunches of cattle at different places and thought if the bags work i could load one on the truck and away I go. I like the resultats i get from the corn silage , just looking at ways to do it a bit different. thanks again

It would take far more time to put silage in a bunch of bags than it would to pile it. Plus you get better fermentation from one large mass as opposed to many small masses.
