I have not seen flies like this ever. The last 30 days have been horrible. I have tried every spray mixed with diesel and rubs. I can't get them under control. any tips or suggestions.

I'm not far down the road from you plb and we've had alot of flys as well. We worked one of our herds the other day and used the spray on wormer and it seemed to work better on the flys than the fly spray we used earlier.

I bought some of the back rubber that comes premixed. Dump my cake into piles were it takes the cows a little while to eat. Spray it over their backs. Seems to work great. The rubs seem to only help me with my calves.

been a bad year here for flys as well the mineral blocks with rabon seemed to help along with spraying. but hose dad gummed flys seem to multiply faster than i can spray

I don't know if this would be practical for the type of operation that you have going or not, but we started using fly predators around the horse barn this year and they made a very significant difference. We run a horse boarding business, have about 24 runs, and were almost at capacity for the spring and summer. If you're interested the web site is -

They've been horrendous here as well.. and the gnats are beyond that!

I've been feeding the cows every few days and spraying. There's a new spray out, I believe it's Electra, that works well for a couple of days. I make sure I wet down their backs, bellies and tails really good. Other than that, the only thing that is going to help is a hard freeze.
