Well as it can for the loss.
But hopefully it'll get Cutie caught up where she needs to be.

The orphan and her new adopted "momma" that lost her natural calf.
Young cow is put together pretty well, glad she is taking to a graft calf nicely.
Should have enough groceries to get this wimpy orphan to a more robust state.

Yep. I've kept it frozen for at least 2-3 years, sometimes, before I need to use it. I freeze it in pint aliqouts - thaws more quickly than a 1-qt chunk.
Thaw in hot water - not the microwave - microwave can produce 'hot spots' that may denature the antibodies you're wanting to provide.

Thanks for the info!!! That's a great idea and this really would be so easy to do since our momma's are typically so easy to handle.
Should probably collect some on the next one for a "just in case" time.

we often use cream cartons for it.. about a pint, and nice and square so you can pack them in the freezer nicely

I like putting a date on it, and which cow it came from... I always try and steal some from the older cows.. they always have more than the calf needs and they have better antibodies from what I hear... Oh, and by the time they're 5 years old I should have trained them well enough to stand still and not step in the pail while I milk them
