the girl who was shot in the head by the Taliban for speaking out in Pakistan for girls to be educated, has left hospital and has been granted permission to stay here in Britain, {well we knew that would happen}, good that she is fine but so much for 'no I want to go back as soon as I am well'. Her family have been given entrance as well. I wont say any more as it all makes my blood boil.

Sending her back is a death sentence.
I doubt any Brit politician wants be tied to that choice./quote]no they wouldn't, but it was her choice and she has been talked out of it. She wanted to carry on her campaign, I know and everyone else does that that is plain suicide but it is her choice to make. She maybe young and foolish and need guidance but not here, we have enough with what we already have, they are throwing it down our necks on the NEWS everyday about the over crowding of population with no jobs and the strains on our resources and now they are adding to it. They have found her Dad a job which has irked a lot of unemployed people who desperately have been trying for the post. I'll shut up now or I'll get my own post locked.

One more paki will hardly be noticeable. :hide:
no Jo one might not, it's the entourage that comes with it that's the problem.

I was just gigging you. I know your feeling on the pakis. Seems ya'll have an open door policy for them to go there and plop down and lap up your benefits.

I guess I'm missing something. She got shot in the head, now given permission to stay in Britain and bring her family with her. Is she bringing in a hundred? Our just 6 or 7? Staying sure sounds safer than returning. Unless the family is coming in by the bus load what's the problem?

Chrisy, wanna trade? I got a couple of families in mind. You can be introduced and choose which one you want! :)

Hubby and I agreed, when we saw the girl released from the hospital on the news, that if she went back to Pakistan, she'd probably be dead in a matter of days -- she is a liability there. So I'm glad she has a safer haven, but she will still be a target if the bad guys can get a crack at her.

If you are unfamiliar with their recent immigration policies you would be missing something. Many people in the UK are upset that their doors are wide open to the immigration of the pakis. While those I know don't mind giving them a safe harbor IF they would simply learn the language and try to become part of society rather than squatting, stealing and just becoming a drain on their society. A good example that comes to mind is there was a young paki girl who was given a free three bedroom apartment with free utilities and food and she was complaining that it wasn't big enough for her and her seven children. At least that is how I understand what I've been told. Of course we'd just call them racists in this country.

Sounds like the USA, Jo -- as far as not having to learn the language but getting free benefits. Am not sure why they call that racism anywhere. I have no issues with folks coming into the USA if they are persecuted/threatened with death. My issues are those who show up for "convenience" with guaranteed health care, education and other subsidies necessary for life -- not one at a time without proper paperwork, but lots at a time. Is that racist thinking?

Who the he-l cares if it is racist or not? Truth is truth.
The word "racist" has been used to beat us over the head and make people feel guilty and afraid about anything they might say that does not suit the liberal cause. I got sick and tired of it a long time ago.
That is one of the reasons the country is going to blazes in a hand basket.

Correction-I said "country" probably should have said "world".

Thanks Jo, I am not familiar with the UK "open door" policy. While I don't have a problem with the girl staying I can see the frustration on another level. Sounds like our problem with our "friends" south of the border and the revolving door we call a border.

Well we'll see how fast this gets locked. I don't think the word "racism or racist" is over used and those words work both ways. The blacks suffered from severe racism for a few hundred years up to about 40 or 50 years ago, not long enough to be forgotten by many. My wife and I are both caucasian, i was treated with racial inequality on our first trip to Atlanta a few years back. We were standing in a check out line with a young black girl checking and a couple of black folks ahead of us, when it got to be our turn, three other black girls came around the counter and the checker checked them out before us. I was in shock, I had never been treated like that, checker an I just stared at each other and my with and I walked out leaving a cart full on the belt. Similar thing happened with a taxi driver in Vegas, but looking back I don't know that it was racist or just a young black taxi driver that had a choice of picking up a couple of white folks or a single good looking young black girl. So that may have been hormones over race. racism is dealt be all hands of color, it's too early to forget is my only point

Just to get myself in more trouble, American Indians. It's been80 to 100 yrs since any real wrong doing. Maybe it's time to move on and start taxing their casinos and cut off some funding.

While some of it could be racism in the UK, I think it mostly stems from the fact they do not typically mess into society. If I moved to Pakistan, I would expect to have to learn their language so I could get a job. I would also expect to learn their customs even though I would still maintain my own. What I gather is many of these people don't care to become British, they just plop down and suck up the generosity of a liberal government. Sortof similar to what happens here but on a much grander scale.

The way things are going in the world today racism will just about dissappear as humans eventually homogenize. In generations to come your great great grandkids are all going to be of similar color, similar features, more and more people's traits are going to be averaged out - accept it, don't accept it :help:

Just think, if roads and bicycles were not invented none of this would have been possible :P

And that will be the end of the advancement of civilization.

I don't know how any person, let alone a mother with daughters and grand daughters could feel burdened by the presence of this girl and her family. This young woman was a light onto the path of countless (literally countless) women in her country, which of us can say the same? She has a profound sense of faith, purpose, conviction and courage that makes the world a better place for all of us at risk to her own life. She is an asset to your country and hosting her is an honor.

She was brave, but I don't see where she has accomplished anything yet. When women start getting treated as human there an not property, that will be evidence of advancement. I'm not holding my breath on that.

mmmmmmmm, I bet it will look more like herd of hodge podge sale barn cattle just like now with shades from Charolais to Angus. Mendelian genetics predicts this.

Since I'm so racist, I'm doing my part in breeding some brown out of America. My daughter is 3/4 pasty white. Two more generations and they can be registered purebred caucasian.
