So this was yesterday's drama. Heard this poor little fawn bawling, mama snorting & one of the dogs barking. It had somehow got all tangled up in some old, down fence in the woods behind the house. Naturally there's a ton of poison ivy down there. Grabbed the fence cutters & eventually got it out. Pretty wobbly at first but after a while took off & hopefully reunited with its mama. So far neither of us are suffering from the ivy although last night I jolted awake, sure I heard it still bawling & convinced mama rejected it. Took a moment to realize it was Hubby's nose whistling - not quite a full blown snore.

The skeleton of one about that size or just a bit older is still hanging on one of my fences from last year sometime..

Congratulations

I almost hit one yesterday when mowing pasture.
Rhetorical question but WHY do they bed 'em down in pastures/fields instead of woods? :bang:
coyotes...weve got several that bed their fawns up by the house. I'm having problems posting pics. I sent one to farm fence the other day . maybe he will put it up. it started with one and over the years I think the fawns have grown up and picked up the same habit.. I'm sure its because they know they are safe there.

I don't know about your area, but around here, the skeeters, deer flies and horse flies are so bad in the woods nothing wants to stay there very long, including me.
