I read about it on another board. Been going on for awhile from what I gathered. Bad mojo for sure.

"this was not classed as a cyclone just a big weather event. You know, but it did seem like a cyclone, it was really windy and destructive and like l said, the hugest rain seen in years, the authorities are calling it a 1 in 100 year Flood. I was actually really scared because I have massive blood wood gum trees, they are like steel, best burning logs, last for hours but, God help , if one was to fall on my house! Okay, so the flood and water thing is going from bad to worse here, all of the drought affected areas have now seen the rains, but no the ground is so hard on years of drought the water has just run off. It did not sink into the ground, Australia has now got the next huge issue of our cattle have drowned, here in North Queensland and going onto the Northern Territory. The news just released that over 3 hundred thousand head have perished."
 
Yeah really terrible over there. They can't take a trick at the moment. I'm on the other side and our weather the last few years had been some of the best i can remember. Some of the pictures are terrible and heartbreaking.
 
Yes that is in the north of our state, they have been in severe drought for over 7 years. Jilleroo who is a member of CT comes from up that way though may be on the southern fringe of it. They do have cattle scattered around the place chasing grass on agistment. I haven't heard how they have faired, keeping my fingers crossed for them.

Ironically the rain stopped half way down our state and we are in the opposite situation, extremely dry and extremely hot summer with no grass growing whatsoever and there doesn't seem to be any hope for rain. We are feeding grain and protein meal but running out of roughage. All feed is double the normal cost and hay and straw is difficult to source. Just hoping for some autumn rain to plant some ryegrass. Australia is a country of "drought and flooding rain" .

Heard of this last evening from a friend that saw it on facebook. I cannot imagine the heartbreak of the flooding. He said that the post he saw was over 500,000 were drowned/killed from the flooding that was so bad after the extreme drought. Something like 28 " of rain?????
I am so sorry for those farmers/ranchers. I know what the pictures of last years flooding in Texas were like, but I think your situation in Australia is worse. Please keep us posted wbvs58

Have done some searching for information. There are areas that have gotten 2 METERS of rain over a 10 day period. That's over 6 FEET of rain. After a 7 YEAR DROUGHT.
Makes me feel small for complaining about constant rain here when we are getting less than an inch at a time. Got over an inch last night, water laying on the fields everywhere because it just doesn't soak into the ground at this time of year. A day or 2 of sun and then rain/snow/ice mix Tuesday night into Wed then more rain for 4 days.
Cannot imagine 6 feet of rain in 10 days.

Some farmers up there have been breeding their genetic lines for decades and after 50 years of work lost their entire herds in the floods. That would be hard to handle. Hopefully they have some semen and embryos tucked away.
