Anyone live there or real near to it? Thinking, very preliminary thoughts right now, of going to the F1 race at COTA in october.

Austin is full of hippies.
Very true but they still have a good music scean.
Not sure about now but 6th street was great except for the liberals.

Hasn't changed a bit. Just more of them now. There's a reason the motto is "Keep Austin Weird"

And there's a reason it's sometimes called "The People's Republic of Austin".

I live there when I'm keeping an eye on my mom. I'll go to the races w you Dun. I didn't go last year but got free invites the years before. It's good clean fun.

Hippie Hollow? Nude beach a couple coves west of the Oasis. We lived on the north shore of Lake Travis (technically Volente) and avoided that area :) Austin is one perpetual cultural education - probably one of the reasons we moved back to KS.

Lots of weird people but some neat stuff to see, and great places to eat if you can put up with the traffic. In my opinion Austin is one of the worst cities to drive in.

I visited Austin twice while my son was attending UTA, a difficult town to navigate, for me anyway.

I thought Austin traffic was bad until I went to Boston last fall. Austin isn’t that bad.

Damn Waco,
You ever drive in Houston?

I'very spent plenty of time in all of them and can tell you the worst place by far is Dallas/Ft Worth. I can deal with Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Even Tyler.

Houston is like passing through the inner gates of he'll. It would be a great place to test a nuclear bomb. Dallas not much better.
Austin is interesting but to much traffic and beatnics. Fort worth is ok.
Everyone should visit San Antonio.
