My Asparagus is getting really thick in the rows. Should the plants be thinned out after a few years just to keep it from getting so thick?
 
This is the first year we have planted any. Hopefully in a few years, I'll have some experience and can help you. Till then, sorry!
 
You got a good patch there. From what I've seen, most of the time as the patch matures plants start to die off and need to be replaced. I would let the patch go as long as it's productive. You must do a good job with weeds and proper care. What do you use for fertilizer?
 
I have been mulching with composted manure and also using 12-12-12 every couple of weeks, not too much each time.
