Crazy question.....Should I spray a pasture for army worms before seeing them????We have a bermuda grass hay meadow that we want to graze the first part of October. No army worms in that pasture or any others around it that I can see. We're headed out of town next week. I don't want to come back to bare dirt.

I never spray until I see them. Now if I was leaving town for a extended period and my neighbors had them.. Seems like mustang max has a few weeks of residual and I know there's better stuff. I use mustang because I bought plenty a few years back. How long you gonna be gone ? You generally have several days from when the small 1/4 inch worms show and they get big enough to do damage. Do you have moths in the field at night? If I saw any small worms or moths in my headlights driving through the field at night and was going to be gone a couple of weeks I would spray.

We get them almost every year, I spray with Lambda. This year I found another insecticide to spray with it called Tide. By using both at the same time, I have not had to spray again. The Tide was $150.00 and it covers 64 acres. Lambda was $49.00 and covers 34 acres per jug. I believe the residual is is around 40 days which wipes out the new worms hatching.
