Yup! Got'r done. We went to a cattle pasture walk recently and the State Vet's Office had a little booth set up. It was as easy as pie.

I understand how some people feel that this is another invasion of privacy. I got nothing to hide.....as far as cattle go. :)

I don't really think it would take anyone long to find out where all the cattle and cattle people are if there was a problem anyway.

3R is five miles from the Courthouse on a State Road where a quarter million people a week drive by. The only time I can hide black cattle is at night. :lol:

Registered online about two months ago. I am considering using RFID tags as well.
I have no problems with letting others know that that beef is mine for I am proud of what I produce..

Got mine done. But like i put in another thread, 2006 was the date for Texas. This is coming from Matt Brockman of TSCRA.

They are saying yes. The EID is going to be mandatory and your prem. number will be the way they find someone that has a problem. You will have to have a premisis number to get your tags.

Is this going to apply to all cattle operations? I assumed care-taking of my grandpa's herd after he passed away. We cut the size down from 33 to 10 to be more managable as well as to provide my grandma with money to pay for the funeral and various other things.

Every year, I'd like to increase the herd size by maybe one or two (until I get to 15-20 head) and sell the rest. If this is something I am going to have to do, I might as well sign on while it is free.

Yes, as I understand the information at this point. The idea is to be able to track any animal back to its source, whether there are 2 cows or 2,000 cows at the farm/ranch of origin.

I have several phone calls into and e-mails out to guy in Ohio that is supposed to know what is going on. No response since I started asking questions in July.

Does the same premise ID number apply to the horses as well as the cattle?
What about the rented pasture, do I register it or does the owner, who is elderly and ownes no cattle?
What happens when I move cattle from one farm to the next which is still in my ownership. Do I have to report the move?

No one seems to know anything about the premise ID here. Can you guys help me?

Can't comment on whether or not the premises ID applies to horses as well.

Rented property can be included under your "home farm" ID or set up separately, depending ou how you manage your cattle. If cattle are transported back & forth between your home farm and the rental (say for working your cattle), then they can fall under one ID. If the rental is managed completely separate from the "Home Farm," it woulde be registered under it's own ID. Property owner permission is required, but verbal approval is acceptable.

Rented property is mainly winter housing and pasture. They are moved out there when the grass is gone at the home place.

Both farms that we own can be registered under one number? Heifers are housed at one place till they calve then transported to the main place where the cow herd is.
