Looks like we are going to need to sink a new well. I will start calling around tomorrow or early next week, but I'm wondering what drilling costs are around the country. Anybody have any ideas?

About $20 per foot down here ($5,000 for a 250 foot well).

I doubt there is any relation between drilling cost here and there. It is hard to get a good well here and most folks have rural water.

a buddy of mine sunk a new well last year.an i think when it was all said an done it cost him $15000 to $20,000.that was drilling the well getting power to it an running the water where he needed it

Big Bull, yep....daughter and son in law had one drilled last year and ended up costing over $15,000. Course they had to go about 800 feet to get adequate flow of water. A few miles outside San Saba.

You need to move to Louisiana. We had one dug this past summer. It only set us back $2200. Mainly due to the water table being so shallow.

Gerald I hear that. Hard to set post in that country cause of the water table. And even a small man can make the ground quiver when he walks. :lol: :lol:

Correct. I hate to put too much tension on wire, because the corner post will eventually move (especially in winter). We have to cement around all of our large posts to prevent this.

North of Tucson is running 40 a foot and up had a 700 foot well drilled right before the new year. I had talked to some drillers out of Benson and I believe they were running around 60 a foot. Feel free to P.M. me and I'll send you my drillers number if you like. They are long haired hippie boys but good drillers.

Hard to say. We have some 25 to 30 foot hand dug wells here at the headquarters, but a well we have been using down country is 600 feet (water at 450, pump at 525). Of course it is much more reliable than the shallow holes. I'm sure hoping we don't have to go that far.

We actually have a couple dug wells, but they won't do the herd in summer alone in this drought. I need more storage - and you have given me the idea I need to sit an pencil out how much storage we could buy for the cost of drilling 300 to 600 feet! Had 2 wells drilled last year. One crew was here for a week and a half they had an older rotary rig with a light hammer. The drillers I prefer to use can run about 200 feet in 3 hours in granite harder rock slows them down some. They have been drilling some 1400 foot holes up Arvaipa that are taking about a week apiece. I know there are some cable tool guys still running around used one a couple of years ago 200 foot through rock took quite a while. Bought a new 10000 gal storage tank last year out of dewey run 3500 delivered. I do know a fellow that has some of the 10 to 20 thousand gallon gas tanks allready set up for storage for about half of a new galvanized tank. But my equip contract didn't cover the cost as well on used tanks versus new tanks.
