Friday my wife got a call from a man representing Barn2door. Said he had seen either our Facebook farm page or maybe it was our farm website and was asking her how many cattle we had and if we ever sold any direct for beef.
She was working and didn’t have time to really have to discuss much.
I kind of dug around online, it looks like like a deal where you pay so much a month and I’m figuring they may be like a middleman that refers customers.
Has anybody heard of this or used it?
They are supposed to call back tomorrow.

If you listen to the Herd Quitter podcast, Barn2Door is usually one of thier show sponsors. The podcast host talks about the increase in revenue/sales etc as a result of using them. Also he has a discount code thing, so you might be able to save some money if you listen to the first few minutes if the podcast to get the code to pass on when they call back. I personally have no experience with them.

My first thoughts are in line with what @Dsth said, I really don’t want a middleman, and it seems like there’s always somebody trying to make money off of our cattle and farm other than us and I get tired of it.
@dave_shelby I’m kinda interested in what it turns out to be too, I just don’t see that much of a market right around here either. We have no idea what it really is about, but am pretty skeptical of it.

Im wildly confident they aren't scammers. If you do meet with them, I would love to hear the update!

Unless I'm missing something on their website, they aren't a middle man or interested in selling any products. They make their money selling "training" on things like marketing, business, sales, etc... to small farms. They teach people how to increase their marketability. They don't actually do it for you.

We "met" with a couple young men from the Barn2door over a video call like Skype or FaceTime a while ago.
From what I can gather it's a situation that sets up a website for you to market from for a subscription fee. They are headquartered out of Nashville.

I know I'm about 6 months late to this discussion, but I just had a horrible experience with Barn2Door.
I would not recommend. I didn't get past the first initial "onboarding" meeting, before I realized they completely misled me. They also charged a surprise $50 TAX onto my first membership sign up fee. It was supposed to be $400 to sign up plus the first month ($158). Well, they took out $697! I found out it was tax. On what??

The other problems:
1.
Details with the online store. We have three business. I talked to them for two weeks, in detail, about how my current website us set up and how I wanted the new site to operate. All this guy kept telling me was yes. Everything us customizable and everything is possible. No. It isn't. You get one online store. I need my services that are booked (hoof trimming appointments), my products that are sold (beef and hay), and my online registration for Farm School classes for kids to all be seperate. He told me that it could happen. But tge onboarding manager saud no, I can have one online store where everything is listed together. That's rediculous.
2.
When Cole was telling me what I was paying for, just under his breath running through the services/package I was paying for, he mumbled something about the Marketing Toolkit which is $29 A MONTH extra. I said, whoa whoa whoa. What is that? He told me is was for the beautiful email templates we had talked about. 😳 We talked for two weeks about email marketing and how important it was. He never told me the templates were $29 a month extra.
3.
Cole talked about Barn2 Door even "helping you with creating delivery routes and managing your delivery service."
No. They don't. They farm that out to a 3rd party service that ypy HAVE TO PAY EXTRA for. Again, he made it sound like this was part of the package I was going to get. Whichbis 158/month!
4.
Cole mentioned MANY times that "tgere are no transaction fees" for online transactions. Yes. There are. Charged by tge merchant services of course. Barn2Door doesn't charge anything, butit was extremely misleading because I clarified multipke times and asked directly, "there are NO charges for onlibe transactions?" He kept telling me no. I obviously understand that merchant service fees are a part of doing business. But he jept telling ke that there were no charges.
5.
This BS $50 tax charge on my furst sign up payment. That's insane. And he mentioned the total for the day being $648 many many times. And the my bank transaction showed $697 being taken out.

During my onboarding meeting was when it became clear there were even more lies and ways I was misled. So, I didn't finish the meeting and told them I changed my mind and wanted to cancel my membership and get a refund. It took two weeks to get anyone "in charge" to call me. I finally talked to someone today. They said they would have a refund deposited to my account within 7 days. So, I hope it will be over soon.

I don't recommend Barn2Door.

I don't recommend Barn2Door.
Thank you for that assessment.
We had a brief meeting online with them back several months ago. We didn’t agree to anything at that time and agreed to be in contact in 6 months to decide if we were going forward with it. That contact was made as a representative called a couple weeks ago At that time we told them we were not interested.

I was trying to edit my reply, to fix my typos and edit some things, but on this forum there is a time limit. But, I guess I got my point across. 😅 I was feeling all the frustration when I wrote it and didn't proof very well.

I'm glad you thought about it and did what was right for you.

They were set up in front of boot barn a few months back and they tried to get us to pay for a cow to send overseas to some poor family. We would get hand written thank you notes from the family they chose to give it to. When we told them we raise beef he tried to get us to donate them to his program. Sounded shady from the start.

I wanted to chime in here. We've been using Barn2Door for the last 5 years. We love it. They built our website, manage our meat subscriptions, and have a really great staff that's always ready to help should problems arise.

I couldn't find any other software that was built like this, for farmers. I needed to use something that would help me with home deliveries, online sales, an online store, subscriptions and organized order sheets. They do all of this and they also offer classes and an exclusive community for farmers trying to sell direct-to-consumer.

They also do a bunch of research to find out what consumers are looking for when buying from a local farm. It's hard to find everything that Barn2Door is in one place. Usually, you have to slap a bunch of different programs together to make this work. Thanks to B2D, I don't have to do that. It's all in one place for me. I can track my sales, manage my inventory, and build Bundles/Subscriptions all on one platform.

For us, Barn2Door is the best option out there. Of course, there are tons of other "cheaper" options, but that's not what we're after. We care about our products and our brand looking and functioning as best as possible. And we've only found that that is possible with Barn2Door.

LOL Not transparent at all. I completely believe this is a legit customer testimonial.
You can go to our website: Chucktownacres.com ... You'll see that was built by Barn2Door and they also manage my online farm store. You can also go to my instagram @Chucktownacres ... I am a real, happy customer.

Your website is super fast, super clean, highly accessible, and the user experience is  flawless. You should be proud of it! Really top notch. And I'm saying that from a web development and design background. I see very few services that offer decent websites that aren't basket cases for the user or owner, if not both.

Are you using B2D for your newsletter through mailchimp, or are you managing that separately? Either way, you've got a clean sign up campaign for that, too.

We started as a small 2-person Farm operation per year back in 2019. We learned about Barn2Door from another vendor at the market. We jumped in with 2 feet and our business has just exploded. We've grown from $50k to $500k!
All the tools and resources that are available from Barn2Door are amazing - including POS. Barn2Door is a TOOL, they don’t do it for you. You wouldn’t go work in the field without the right tools, and we view our relationship with them as such. The team is amazing and we appreciate the opportunity to work them. Barn2Door has more than paid for itself.

I’m glad it’s worked out for you.
