We’ve been waiting for the right one at the right price for some time. 96 Western Star, a little rust on the frame keeping it from passing inspection. A friend listed it and the deal was done 15 minutes later. 15 minutes after that a mutual friend to both of us offered me more money. Took my old teenage partner in trouble / now mostly retired trucker down to pick it up. It travelled home on a permit at 100 kmh. Air ride, everything on it works. Gave $12,500 for it. My trucker buddy says I stole it.IMG_1058.jpeg

Does it have full lockers?

Mine just has a locking power divider, so I've been on the hunt for an affordable rear cut off with full lockers.

Hey, life can get boring if you don't spend a little of that hard earned cash on some toys when you have an opportunity and it fits your budget. What you don't do is go completely hog wild like too many people do which puts you in a real bind when the market collapses again, which I strongly suspect will happen sometime down the road again (no idea when though). At 12.5K, I'd say that is a prudent investment, although I don't know trucks. My thought is that if new it could be on the order of 125K....maybe? My thought is relative, and uneducated on this, but I'd say 125K wouldn't be quite as prudent. What would be the expected retail price of this if it was new? My 125 was a complete WAG in the dark.

Correct, paid for and no payments to make either. Problems show up with financed new equipment. We are trading our old bale wrapper in for a new one and cashing the difference too. We went a long time running old junk.

We bought a rake tractor and a TD15 before the truck. Still didn’t spend 75k on all 3.

Well, yes the flake feeder was a great addition. I thought about and even looked at some no till drills last year. Might do that this year. I bought a new quad back in June. The old one got to burning oil and the electric shift locked up a couple of times. Thought about trading it in or selling it but decided to keep it for a spare. That keeps me from having to use the wife's old beater quad which I hate. Good thing about high prices is being able to pay cash.
