Howdy,

I am glad to finally introduce myself as Bama did. I have been lurking here on the boards a long time. I figured it was time to login and get goin'.
I am here on our family farm raising registered black angus. We are in the upper Shanendoah River valley area, Northern Virginia. It's been a lot more work than what I was doing before, since my Father and I did everything together. My Mother and Father, Myself, my wife and 2 children all lived and worked here on the farm. My Mother and Father were killed September 11th at the Pentagon. I found it just takes a lot longer to get things done by myself.

Daybreak, I lost my father years ago. But sometimes I still catch myself wanting to ask his opinion about some decision I have to make. Funny thing is that I am older now than he was then. Your father was probably the same. Remebering never goes away. But the grief does subside. You are a part of the legacy left by your parents. I Imagine you will do just fine.
Hope I do not sound patronizing. Best of all to you and your family.

It's been 30 years since my dad died and I still see and do things and think, "Dad would have really loved this".

Welcome Daybreak. I commented on another thread about your bull. Real nice.
I haven't had a close loss like that, but I had a dear friend died of a sudden massive heart attack. For better than a year, I found myself doing something or seeing something, and thinking, "I better call Paul & tell him about that" and than I would remember -- and realize - he already knew.

I am sorry to hear of your loss, it was a tragic day that I don't think any American will soon forget. All of America feels grief, although those of us that did not lose someone close can never feel the same level of pain as those that lost loved ones. My husband lost his father when he was 8, the deep seeded grief has never gone away, although the bad days are fewer and farther inbetween.

I guess I'll just have to find another Simmental or BRAHMAN breeder to help even out the score!

I'll even out the breeds. We have Simmental, Herefords, and one Angus. I've been here for just a few weeks and have learned alot. Cattle problems aren't good, but it is nice to know others have them too.
 
Thank you Daybreak. Tell us more about your Mom and Dad. What made them laugh? What did they try to communicate to you through your place and through your cows?
