shortly i will have to invest in some replacements. i have an angus bull and will probably always have one. my question for you all is; would i benefit from crossing my angus to some limosine stock? all i will need the calves for will be to slaughter for table beef. i've looked and searched on CT for similar threads but cannot find anything. i'm looking for a little quicker weight gainer than the angus without sacrificing meat quality. i really don't know what to expect from such a cross and guess that that is what i'm asking. also, how do limosine handle pinkeye. i have a pretty good vacination program going right now but i have absolutely no experience with continental cattle, thanx, tmax
 
Hello. I know you have some good Limi breeders in OK. I suppose you have some good grass. If you have a good Angus bull and buy some quality Limousine heifers or cows how would you go wrong? Why are you concerned with Pinkeye?
 
the limo x angus will produce a leaner beef than a straight angus.that can b a good or bad thing depending on what u r wanting to do.i consider it a good thing.
 
Yes, leaner and probably higher yield. Again, good or bad depends on what you're trying to do.

Its not a vehicle more like a transformer robert, to glue some butt on them angus. :D Should be some Limousin breeder close to you that are breeding limflex that you could take a look at. Limousin will add yield when crossed with angus plus better feed converison.
 
thanx to all who replied, triple b and red bull were esp. helpful. "gluing some butt on those angus calves" is exactly what i'm after. i made a trip to the butcher barn today and got a pretty good look at some limflex steers. they were impressive. there are plenty of limosine breeders in the area that i have access to, so i'll probably start looking for some heifers. i don't see any downside. thanx again, tmax.
