So we had a few heifers not breed. They don't get a second chance around our place so Instead if selling them at the sale barn I figured I could put them in our freezer beef program. This is the first set of heifers I ever processed. I'm a little nervous but everyone keeps telling me they will be fine. They are 22 months old. Had to Wait a couple months for kill dates and just got lucky a different processor than I normally use could get them in all at the same time.

I dont see an issue. Theyre about the age they would get sent to the plant from the feedlot.
They look good n tasty.

They sure look good to me. I pretty much always eat heifers. They are cheaper to buy or sell and they eat just fine.

Brock's Esto's in Bonifay they came recommended from friends in Marianna other than that I have no idea about them.

Someone told me that heifers have more tender meat vs. steers. the meat we have in our freezer right now is a heifer that would not settle. we have no complaints and steaks do seem to be nice and tender.

I weighed them before taking to the processor this morning. It will be interesting to see what there hanging weigh is. I was hoping they would be all over 1200 pounds but came up short with the one. She was a smaller frame but fat.

Fat heifers live weights.

2062-1260 lbs
2080- 1135lbs
2028- 1315 lbs
2072- 1235lbs

Well I went and picked up these heifers from the processor on Tuesday. One of my customers sent me these pictures. When you are dealing with the general public that never purchased beef in bulk you don't know what type of responses you will get but so far everyone has been very happy with the end product!!
