Angus cow bulls

Jake,

We used the density bull back when he first came out. I liked his pedigree and was looking for some EXT genetics that I could afford. The only thing I didn't like about his progeny was they lacked muscle in the lower quarter. It could of been a fluke but I didn't use him after that first year. Now he is a hot commodity for sure based on what his calves did at the SAV sale. I don't know how they did as mamma cows none stayed in the herd long enough to find out.

I think they do lack some lower quarter. Personally I would go with a younger bull than the older just because I like some of the younger bulls a little better. I would look at using the SAV Seedstock bull that sold this year just because he come from two cows that are 10+ years old and still pumping out AI stud bulls. So much cow power behind him it would be hard to imagine that he's a flop.

You said the right word cow power! I remember going to a sale years ago they were selling Sitz Everelda Entense 1137 AAA 10912116. I knew that she was the dam of a large number of AI bulls but was surprised when I saw her. She was not a big cow (she was 13 at the time) but boy did she produce some great bulls. Everyone is always talking about bulls but it is the cows that you need to be concentrating on.

This quote could not be more true. If you focus on the female the rest will come.
