i have the chance to buy a an angus bull that is a son of objective.
he's a 5 year old that came from breeder in talihina ok.
i saw some replacement heifers that they are keeping from him and were a nice set.
i'm kind of ignorant but he acted like " objective" should mean something.
he said he was a low birthweight, + 100 yw.

can someone educate me about " objective"

He was one of the highly promoted "Bull of the Month" a few years back...

I have not been very impressed with Objective or his calves... About all I can say good about him is that he is a calving ease bull... I used him several years ago when he was a young bull on some heifers for that reason- and because of the 6807/707/Rito pedigree kept a few daughters... None have turned into overly impressive cows, nor having the easy keeping trait I've found with other 6807/707 bred cattle- with them also being some of the hotter dispositioned I have and they are bigger framed than I like/expected...
I've heard others comment about Objectives throwing of bad dispositions...
 
He has a great set of EPD's. That's his claim to fame. He can really bump the average on a registerd calf out of a mediocre cow.
He's hard to look at so he's best veiwed on paper in the form of epd's and that seems to carry to his sons as well in my opinion although I've seen a few sons that I didn't like to much that put out some awesome calves.
They do grow and they do well on carcass and they won't eat you out of house and home doing it.
 
the replacement heifers they were keeping are just under 2 years old and did seem to be larger framed but i just assumed that was because they are registerd and tend to be on the large side.
i had planned on keeping a few replacements but i may not now.

great numbers - definitely no fan of how he looks or any calves I've seen out of him. Terrible rear.

worked a deal and cows will be bred by him and buy young bull from them next year,
we'll see how the calves turn out.
 
We had a son of Objective. I liked him, calves we had were not big framed. Weaning weights were as good as my old bull. Kept some heifers out of him, we will see how they do.
 
We used an Objective son, Mandate, one season.
Did not nick well with my cattle - steers ended up OK, but the 'grow' that his epds suggested wasn't really there, and they were noassatalls, like the photos of Objective. Only one heifer out of a half-dozen made the initial cut at weaning - the others went to the sale barn with their steer counterparts, and sold low in their class.
 
my vet crossed objective on i think predestined heifers and liked there udders, but i was not all that impressed with them myself, put it this way if i had his semen in my tank don't think i would be using it. predestined and 50 50 are a couple bulls i really like as well as bc classic. jmo David

Predestined heifers are really nice, I have a couple and more on the way.
